History

A smiling baby lying in a soft cot (furniture).Image via WikipediaYears ago as a little child I used to watch my grandmother massage my cousins.  I was the eldest of the grandchildren therefore was able to learn some of the strokes from my grandmother. Now, here in Australia they have found the benefits of infant massage and more and more parents are reaping the benefits by learning how to massage their infants and children.

I was very excited when I saw a notice in the papers one day wanting educators for Infant Massage.  Although I had the experience doing this on my children, I wanted to learn it properly so that I too can teach other parents the benefits of this great art.

Here are some of the benefits of learning this great art.

The Benefits of Infant Massage are many, here are just some:
  • It is fun and enjoyable for both baby and parent
  • Helps both baby and parent to relax
  • Encourages baby to sleep deeper and longer
  • Improves colic and constipation and calms irritable babies
  • Boosts a baby’s Serotonin levels which is known to reduce the risks of SIDS
Classes are run for a period of 3-5 weeks, in weekly intervals.  Allowing you to practise the strokes with your baby during the week. Call me to find out when the next class is in your area. I do one on one classes and also group classes.

Touch

It is through our hands that we speak to the child.  Touch is the first language the child learns. Bonding with your baby through massage is a special time for both parent and child.  However old the child may be. And there are many other benefits to this as well.
